Using Axure for Early Validation

Michael Hawley | Mad*Pow, USA

Does your team struggle with long design cycle times, significant late stage re-work, poor adoption and strained relationships between designers and business owners? Often, the problem is that business owners and stakeholders don't know what they want until they can see it and interact with it. Long, word-based requirements documents contribute to communication problems and misunderstanding between groups.

Rapid prototyping tools can significantly help this situation. With these tools, designers can create a version of concepts that help stakeholders visualize the final solution. In addition, interactive prototypes can be a vehicle to solicit user feedback and help resolve questions about the design.

This talk will discuss the role of rapid prototyping within the development lifecycle and present a case study where the prototyping tool Axure was used to gather user feedback on an interactive version of the solution before anyone wrote a line of code.
